Martinsburg, WV (November 4th, 2022) —The Berkeley County Development Authority (BCDA) has promoted Jennifer Smith as their new Executive Director. Smith grew up in Jefferson County, West Virginia and graduated from Shepherd University in 2007, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She has lived in Berkeley County for over 10 years with her husband and three children. Smith is very active in her community, volunteering on multiple boards and committees as well as being a volunteer coach.
Smith is a life-long learner who is motivated by knowledge, she continues her education taking classes through The International Economic Development Council and Blue Ridge Community & Technical College. She enjoys learning how different organizations operate and is inspired to use her skills in economic development to ensure the BCDA meets its goals for helping businesses and the local community. She is excited to embark on her new career journey stating, “Berkeley County is growing, and it is growing fast. We need to make sure that it is controlled growth, and make sure that what we’re bringing in is right for Berkeley County.” She is going to assist all businesses, no matter how big or small, with a fresh, new outlook.
