As we head into 2024, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve undertaken together. 2023 was a great year for the BCDA and is a testament to our collective strength, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to our goals. Economic growth, education, infrastructure, and community development all play vital roles in boosting a county’s success, and the BCDA is committed in its role to helping Berkeley County thrive.
Over the past year, the BCDA has supported over 12 non-profit organizations. Supporting non-profit organizations doesn’t just benefit the organizations themselves but also contributes to a more robust, compassionate, and supportive society. These organizations strengthen our community by offering resources, support, and services.
The BCDA has been working hard to foster entrepreneurship to contribute to economic growth in Berkeley County. The Build-Up Berkeley program was a huge success. Thanks to all the generous sponsorships received, we were able to award $16,000 worth of prizes and delivered an educational series with vital information for business ownership. Stay tuned for the 2024 Build-Up Berkeley Pitch event!
Thanks to the Berkeley County Commission and the WV Department of Economic Development, applications for The Berkeley County Development District No. 1 and District No. 2 were approved. These funds will be used to finance development expenditures within their respective districts. This will be a great tool and with careful planning it will benefit the entire community and improve the quality of life.
I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together and am honored to lead such an exceptional team. Let’s continue to write our success story together in the coming year.
