Sustainable Sand Solutions has a goal of offering a FREE way for the community to get rid of unwanted glass. This glass will then be repurposed, through the use of machinery, into sand – a valuable product with developmental and industrial application.
Unfortunately, their are currently no alternatives for the reuse of glass in Berkeley County, or the rest of the panhandle. My unique approach to this problem not only prevents glass from continuing to fill the dumps, but also allows it to find a new economic purpose that will contribute to the development of the community.
Between machinery, a location, and hauling equipment, an operation like Sustainable Sand Solutions does require capital to begin operations. The prize money offered in this competition will play a vital role in setting the business in motion, and allow it to begin creating a cleaner community.
